CRAFT CARE FUND BY CD

A dedicated fund that supports artisans during times of crisis and transition. Whether it’s sustaining livelihoods during emergencies or enabling long-term welfare, the Craft Care Fund ensures that makers are not left behind

About

The Covid-19 pandemic was a time of unprecedented disruption for artisan communities across India. In its wake, it revealed just how vulnerable many makers are to sudden crises—be it illness, floods, fire, or the loss of tools and materials.

In response, Creative Dignity (CD) stepped in with immediate relief, mobilizing a nationwide collective of craft lovers, volunteers, and changemakers. Out of that collective effort grew something lasting: the Craft Care Fund.

Today, long after the peak of the pandemic has passed, the Craft Care Fund continues as a quiet but crucial safety net—offering timely, small-scale support to artisans during moments of personal or professional crisis.

Grants typically range from ₹5,000 to ₹50,000, depending on the nature of the need. This is not a loan. There is no expectation of return—only the hope that an artisan can get back on their feet, and back to their craft.

Requests are verified and supported by CD members familiar with the artisan’s region and context, ensuring speed, trust, and dignity remain at the heart of the process.

Sustained by philanthropists, CD members, and carry-forward contributions from the Covid relief years, the Craft Care Fund is an expression of community resilience and care.
